Lockdown Gig

"Go and get a qualification for something else," they said at a time of crisis. Now when so many people have lost their jobs or are about to lose their jobs, musicians are supposed to find an alternative to music and, basically, get a job! At the time of job shortage musos are told to go and get a job. I don't think that makes sense at all..

Music is the one thing that has kept people going in life. Here I'm not talking about musicians but I am talking about everybody else who listens to music, who feels charged and inspired when listening to a track or attending a live gig. So, now we're done with this and we're enough, and we should go and get a different qualification. So, what's going on? Are we told to stop listening to music? Are we told to stop feeling happy and inspired when listening to it? If music can't be a job then who is gonna inspire us when we feel down and at our worst? How can we live without socializing? How can we live without a pint in a crowded pub? How can we survive without all these things that have kept people going and alive at many times of crisis? Let's not forget that happy people have stronger immune systems than stressed people.

I am part Latvian. From history and my family I know that Latvians have been slaves for seven hundred years under Germans. Tough, right? I've been always wondering how the heck did they survive and kept their traditions that long? The answer is singing. Latvians have always been great at singing together. They've always been amazing at singing in huge choirs! I can't help but see the similarities with African Americans. When they were brought as slaves to Americas they were drumming and singing to uplift their spirits. And a whole new music brunch developed from this trying to just stay alive and feel ok.

The amount of suffering in the world right now is tremendous: be it financial crisis or deaths or fear, be it loosing our freedom to socialize and speak our minds, be it pandemic or plandemic; one thing we can all agree on is that there is a lot of pain being felt right now in the world.

And because of that I want to invite you to create something new.

There has to be a new vibration to uplift us all! We have to create a new Afro spiritual to lift ourselves out of this mess by our bootstraps. We've got to sing ourselves out of this universe of suffering like Latvians managed to get through their 700 years of slavery!

Though the best thing about all this nonsense is: this too shall pass.. All the suffering and all the restrictions will pass!

But while we're still midst this virus war world order, let's connect online! Let's sing in a shower! Let's dance ourselves silly when home alone locked in! Let's drum some drumming on an empty Amazon delivery box! Let's get through this! Let's do it!

I'm here for you if you need me!

I'm playing an online gig as a part of a charity event this coming Saturday! It's gonna be like 18 artists!! Wow! You'd never be able to hear that many in a pub and not get a bit bored.. Now you can watch all of this while cooking a meal in your kitchen! Or you can dance like nobody's watching (and probobly nobody would be watching) You can sing along very loudly! You can enjoy that live stream while eating, drinking, having a poo, playing on a playstation, googling stuff, repairing your washing machine, putting up shelves, hugging your wife, exercising, meditating, breathing and just being present and aware that you exist in this crazy universe and you are priviledged enough to have internet and enjoy live music streamed into your home! Enjoy it like a boss!

See you there!!
